Because I know you’re all waiting with baited breath. Or is that bated?
(It is, indeed, bated. Bait is what you use to catch fish. Think abated . . .)
For some odd reason, my phone was going straight to voice mail when I tried calling it, even though it was on. *?* I hope it doesn’t decide to make a habit out of that.
My computer’s adapter has a short in it. 5-7 business days and $80 later, I will have a new one. *Sigh* It’s also decided: “Hey, let me save ~W files of everything every five seconds!” (If you’ve ever used Microsoft Word on Windows, you’ll know what I’m talking about: those little files that get auto-saved and are supposed to disappear, but occasionally don’t? Yeah, all of mine aren’t). It makes the slightly OCD in me go: *twitch twitch twitch.* It finally decided to stop that. Whoever says technology doesn’t have a personality has clearly never worked with it.
And the printer has decided: “Hey, I deserve a vacation! I’m off to Timbuktu!” The USB drive stopped recognizing it because apparently the driver was not installed correctly. I’ve used this thing for years, and it just decides to tell me that now?!? I’m thinking it must have been an annoying automatic update installed incorrectly or Macafee toying with it or . . . really, who the heck knows? Maybe a short in ITS wire? So I’m trying to reinstall the driver software for it, an hour long wait on broadband! I tried that, and the computer just went: PBBBBBT! I shall not install this software for you! So I actually managed to find the CD, and the computer told me (again): PBBBBBT! I shall not install this software for you! I could just cry. Why must it do this now, and why not during vacation time?
I don’t really want to tell my dad, even though he is the technology guru of the house because he will definitely think the whole adapter thing is very irresponsible of me (even though I’m paying for a new one) because obviously the fact that it broke (and this is the third or fourth one I’ve gone through in the three years I’ve had the computer) is my fault. And, somehow, the driver problem will be my fault too, because I am irresponsible. I carried 17 units last semester, 5 of which were physiology, worked 5-10 hours a week, went to church 2-3 times a week, and carried off a 3.6 for the semester, and somehow I’m irresponsible because I lost my four-five year old cell phone. (Which only got replaced because I was responsible enough to put a security lock on the old one so no one could use it and because I have yet to join a gang, pull a knife on someone, and go to prison for a year. O.o) I got reprimanded for the phone several times and got one, “Oh, good job” for the grades. >.> I wish I knew how my dad’s mind worked . . . But I think I’m glad I don’t know.
Anybody still curious why I’m closer to my mom than my dad?
On a much better note, on Saturday I ate pie and went minature golfing with my younger brother Jacob, the guy I like (who has no clue I like him for diverse and complicated reasons, mostly that I’m a complete and utter coward) Jonathan, and Jonathan’s younger brother Benjamin. Their parents went out to eat with my parents. (They are, to be clear, Jacob’s parents too!) Much fun was had by all. (We all stink royally at minature golf, lol. But I mysteriously managed to get a hole in one on one of the hardest holes. *?* It was indeed the only hole in one of the evening, but it really shouldn’t have been. All of our golf balls had like little magnetic devices directing them not only away from the hole, but off the path too! Much chasing after the ball was done, lol).<>
